Paleozoic Stratigraphic Framework, Northeast Alberta (Twp 93-97, Rge 6-12W4).
This study details the Paleozoic, mainly Devonian section beneath a portion of the Athabasca Oil Sands, north of Fort McMurray. Based on examination of 12 extensively cored deep wells (1050 metres), it defines the various stratigraphic units comprising the Devonian and establishes the burial history, timing and stratigraphic architecture of the Prairie Evaporite collapse in the area.
Within this framework, it then reviews the existing and proposed units suitable for water disposal in terms of storage capacity, injectivity and containment.
